Grant When your balance reaches $10,000, you are ready to start supporting your preferred charities or join our combined funding efforts for smart giving. On 30 June each year, the Foundation determines a total amount to be distributed from the pooled Greater Melbourne Foundation funds. We attribute to your Charitable Giving Fund an amount you can distribute each year (your spendable balance). The amount you will be able to give to the causes you care about will increase, achieving more each year.
Barbara and John wanted their philanthropy to make a difference not just today, but well into the future. With the trusted support of Greater Melbourne Foundation, they set up The Generous Family Fund with a tax-deductible contribution of $10,000.
Over the next 12 months, our fund managers invested the balance of Barbara and John’s fund combined with other donor funds. Managed responsibly and with care, their balance continued to grow. After the end of the financial year, Barbara and John can recommend grant distributions to support the cause they are most passionate about: stopping youth homelessness. Through The Generous Family Fund, John and Barbara support two local charities. They also give through Greater Melbourne Foundation’s existing partnership with organisations – designed to strengthen communities and challenge and shift the systems that contribute to youth homelessness. As their Charitable Giving Fund continues to grow through careful and considered fund management, John and Barbara know that their generosity continue year after year.
