Greater Melbourne Foundation launches $1.5 million annual funding round

Greater Melbourne Foundation has announced the launch of its inaugural annual funding round, with approximately $1.5 million to support work that addresses current and emerging challenges. It seeks to support communities across Greater Melbourne – particularly those experiencing acute inequity.

The Foundation’s chief executive officer Peter Walton said, “This new funding round forms part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to respond to immediate community need, support essential work currently under-resourced and contribute to a fairer future for Greater Melbourne.”

The Foundation is seeking to partner with organisations working at the intersection of its identified impact areas of climate justice, economic justice and housing justice to drive social justice and equity across Greater Melbourne.

Funding streams include up to $20,000 for small projects testing new ideas and early, exploratory work, and between $20,000 to $100,000 for larger, more complex work.

Stage 1:
Expressions of Interest – open to all eligible organisations:
Tuesday 3 March to Tuesday 17 March 2026 (4:00pm AEDT).

Stage 2:
Full proposal (invitation only):
Thursday 2 April to Monday 27 April 2026.

Funding notification:
late June 2026.
