Students from 14 schools worked throughout Term 2 undertaking fundraising, research and grant making activities. Each school committee was tasked with reviewing three applications and making grants allocations with a budget of $10,000. As part of the event, Fron Jackson-Webb Deputy Editor at The Conversation facilitated the Storytelling for Good discussion about the positive impact storytelling can have on important social issues. Guest panellists included Kirra Hampson from ABC’s Takeover program, Michael Johnston a documentary filmmaker and founder of Momentary, and Uncle Charles Pakana, Elder, educator and founder of Victorian Aboriginal News. YiP Ambassador Aishah Brockhoff facilitated two further Q&A panels with students sharing and discussing what they have learnt about societal issues, not-for-profit organisations and community philanthropy by participating in YiP. Students were also presented with participation certificates by the Foundation’s CEO Peter Walton who thanked the students for their contribution and participation in the YiP24 program. “For over 100 years, the Foundation has been able to channel the individual acts of kindness that seek to address the complex challenges our society has faced over the decades. “I remain hugely optimistic that humanity can rise to these challenges, partly because of people like you, as young changemakers who care.
